AUTHOR: tbooty DATE: 6/30/2004 03:31:00 PM ----- BODY: of course, i mean defection from my current office to my new office. you ever heard of "short-timer's disease"? you know, when you know you only have a certain amount of time left at a job until you a) go on an extended vacation or b) leave for a new job? i got it BAD! and technically i'm only "transferring" jobs. (same company, better pay, same benefits, longer commute) i have had absolutely NO INTEREST in doing any "REAL" work all week long! here it is wednesday afternoon and i'm already mostly packed for my move. all i have left to pack is the accoutrements on my desk (business card holder, picture frames, etc.) and to transfer the info on my desk top to my laptop, which will be done as soon as said laptop shows up. (the one i got yesterday? didn't work right, so they have to send another.) kim had asked what my new job was, so for those of you that don't know the whole history, this is a short synopsis. right now i am a loan processor for home mortgages. as of tomorrow, i will be a home mortgage associate, which means that instead of working with a bunch of loan officers, i work with 2 AND i get a commission which i didn't get before. it's basically a promotion. it's the same basic job, but for less people, that (for the most part) do the job better than the others i was working with. by having me as an associate, the idea is that they'll be able to do more marketing to bring more deals in since i will only be concentrating on 2 people's files instead of 6 people's files. i will have the best of both worlds, as i will still get my base salary, plus a commission, plus a monthly bonus on all the files we fund during that period. that makes up for my having to drive further. by this time, or sooner, next year i should be buying my first home. i haven't signed the contract yet, as the loan officer i will be working for has to fill out all the commission info and how all that will be figured, and she's doing that tomorrow with my boss/manager, so i'll sign it tomorrow afternoon. i start on tuesday and i found out that i get my own office! woo hoo! thanks to all of you who kept fingers crossed, prayed, sacrificed small animals/children, etc. in the hopes that i would get this promotion. it means a lot to me to be kept in so many people's thoughts and prayers. --------
