AUTHOR: tbooty DATE: 6/08/2004 03:23:00 PM ----- BODY: ok, first off, does ANYONE other than me even remember those little commercials? 2nd, i need some major confidence boosting. (and this is where my blogging buddies come in.) here's the deal....... last month i covered for a gal at work and processed her files while she was on vacation for 6 days. at that point in time she had 3 loan officers, 2 of which i helped out. they both told my boss (by the 2nd day no less) that i did an awesome job for them. yeah me. (patting yourself on the back sometimes hurts your arm!) one of them asked me if i wanted to be their associate. let me 'splain what this means. as a processor (what i am currently doing) i am assigned (at this point in time) 6 loan officers and i process on all of their active loans. as an associate, i would only process for that loan officer. (or if they have a jr. lo working under them, for those 2.) this is because as an associate, if the loan officer (lo) doesn't meet or exceed the production quota for the month, they have to kick in part of the assoc.'s salary. it works like this. if i'm a assoc and my lo meets the production minimum, my manager pays my salary and i am eligible for a portion of my lo's commission. if my lo does not meet the production minimum, they have to kick in part of my salary and my manager pays the rest. make sense? anyways, i thought she was joking and didn't think too much of it until the next day or so. she wasn't kidding, so we have had a running dialogue about this subject for the last 6 weeks. meanwhile the person i was covering for came back to work and has been working with this lo. here's the sticky part. i would LOVE the job as an assoc. it's right up my alley and it would enable me to buy my house sooner as theoretically i'd be making more money with the whole commission thing. however. the other processor (she's actually more of an office manager as she does administration things for my manager, as well as processing.) has been processing for this lo for the whole time the lo has been here (about 1 1/2 years) BUT, she's not processing up to the expectation of the lo. but, the lo is torn about who to offer the position to. i already do everything she wants done the way she wants it done, but she feels almost obligated to offer it to the other person first. i understand this on a level, but i don't understand how this will help the lo better her marketing to bring in new business which is the main reason that she wants a assoc at this point anyway! HELP!!! ideas, comments, opinions? i need a confidence boost! thanks! you guys are the best. oh, and i won't hear anything until next week. did i mention i don't do patient well?? the one thing i do know is there are 3 ways this can play out. they are..... a) the lo offers me the position and i take it. duh. this is the one i want to happen. b) the lo offers it to the other processor first and she doesn't take it and i take it. this one too, will work for me. c) the lo offers it to the other processor and she takes it. this is not my favorite of the 3 options, however, i have talked to my manager about this already and if this in fact DOES happen, i will be asked to take over the admin. duties which means more $$ for me! (while this is a good thing, i want the other position more!) --------
