i know i can't be the only one that this aggravates. i realize that greece is 11+ hours ahead of us, and therefore a lot of stuff is final before we've even dragged our asses out of bed. that's fine. but do the radio/tv stations, and the online newspapers have to have coverage of this in more than one place? i mean, i shouldn't have to not check the 4 o'clock news because the olympic news is spread out all over the freakin' front page, should i? here i was all good and averting my eyes from the SPORTS section of the front page, so i wouldn't see who won the men's gymnastics today. great! i managed to do that. so when i scrolled down on the page, i thought i was in the clear and could be surprised tonight when i watched the coverage. but nooooooooooooooooo. when i scrolled down, i glanced to the side and there it was. NOWHERE close to the sports section. and it said who won. wtf?
here's my question. why can't they report who won, AFTER the coverage has been shown here? doesn't that make more sense? yes, that means delaying the news for an additional 12 hours or so. but olympic coverage? that shouldn't be a big deal, right? i mean it's not like it's important in the big scheme of the world, right? i mean, yeah it's cool and all, but it's not life or death news. so why can't they do that and let me watch the olympics in peace? or, why can't they have an olympic results only news show and then i can choose to simply not watch that show? that would work too. doesn't that make sense to all of you in blogland? i think that we should get a petition started. you all would sign, right? i know it wouldn't help for this year, but for the '06 winter olympics and the '10 (or is it '08?) summer olympics?
but no. they have olympic news all over the damn place and unless you bury your head in the sand, you almost can't help finding out who won before you actually get to see it on tv. this sucks! it means that while i'm excited for the guy who won the gymnastic title, i don't have that "edge of your seat, is he going to win or not?" thing that makes all sports so much fun to watch. damn media!
oh well. guess i'm gonna go watch the rest of the olympic coverage for tonight. even though i already know who wins. dammit.
